On our current growth plans, Hawaiian would need to hire 275 flight attendants in the next year if there were no agreement to reduce the number of flight attendants on A330 flights. If the tentative agreement is ratified by the membership, the number of flight attendants we would need to hire in the coming year would be over 180. So the effect of the provision in the tentative agreement will be to reduce the number of flight attendants that we will have to hire; it does not affect the flight attendants already employed by the company.
Your AFA Negotiating Committee has presented the tentative agreement to the AFA Master Executive Council (MEC) for approval. The MEC has approved the tentative and voted to send it to the Flight Attendants for a ratification vote. The MEC unanimously recommends that you vote "FOR" the tentative contract.
YOU will make the final decision on whether or not the tentative agreement is acceptable to you by way of your ratification vote. So please make every effort to attend one of the membership meetings so that you can make an informed decision on ratification.

Washington, DC - The Association of Flight Attendants-CWA (AFA) at Hawaiian Airlines today announced a tentative agreement with management. The agreement was reached with the assistance of the National Mediation Board (NMB) utilizing a "Facilitated Problem Solving" approach to negotiations. While the NMB's facilitation ended prior to an agreement being reached, its services enabled the parties to close out the remaining issues without direct involvement by the NMB.
"This agreement recognizes the contributions that the over 1,200 Flight Attendants make on a daily basis to the tremendous success of our airline," said Sharon Soper, AFA President at Hawaiian. "We thank the NMB for their assistance in this innovative approach to negotiations that highlighted the collaborative relationship AFA shares with Hawaiian management."
Terms of the agreement will be submitted to AFA leadership at Hawaiian and, if approved, will be sent to the membership for ratification. Full details of the tentative agreement will not be made public until they are presented to the membership.
The Association of Flight Attendants is the world's largest Flight Attendant union. Focused 100 percent on Flight Attendant issues, AFA has been the leader in advancing the Flight Attendant profession for over 65 years. Serving as the voice for Flight Attendants in the workplace, in the aviation industry, in the media and on Capitol Hill, AFA has transformed the Flight Attendant profession by raising wages, benefits and working conditions. Nearly 60,000 Flight Attendants at 21 airlines come together to form AFA, part of the 700,000-member strong Communications Workers of America (CWA), AFL-CIO. Visit us at www.afacwa.org.

Your AFA-CWA Negotiating Team is pleased to announce that we have reached a tentative agreement with Hawaiian Airlines management for a new contract. The tentative agreement will be presented to the Master Executive Council (MEC) for approval on Friday, March 16th. If the MEC approves the tentative agreement, a brief summary of the agreement, as well as a schedule of membership meetings, will be posted on www.afa-hawaiian.org. The details of the full agreement will be presented to you at the membership meetings. Please check www.afa-hawaiian.org or the link on the InFlt website for the meeting schedule.
As with any negotiations, neither side got everything they wanted and both parties had to give up some things. But, on balance, your negotiating team believes, this tentative agreement recognizes and rewards the role the Hawaiian Airlines flight attendants play in making our company successful.
Your AFA Negotiating Team would like to thank you, the Hawaiian Airlines Flight Attendants, for your patience, unwavering support and confidence in your Negotiating Team throughout this process.

Dear Flying Partner:
As you probably know we have been working with management to try to reach agreement on a new contract on an "expedited" basis. The goal had been to reach an agreement in a shorter-than-normal amount of time in order to allow the company to take advantage of some strategic business opportunities that would be beneficial to both parties.
We had hoped that we would be reporting to you that we had reached an agreement and would be presenting it to you for ratification. However, even with a senior mediator from the National Mediation Board serving as a facilitator, we were unable to reach an agreement. We were very close but time ran out. We are continuing to meet with management to see if we may still reach an agreement.
Look for our next update by the end of March.

Dear Hawaiian Flight Attendant:
It is important to remember that you will ultimately decide whether or not any agreement we may reach is acceptable to you. Any agreement reached will be presented to you for ratification. If the majority of you find it acceptable, then we will have succeeded. If the majority of you do not find it acceptable, then we will return to the bargaining table and try again. In the meantime, stay in tune and look for our next update after the January session. If you have any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to contact one of your AFA officers or a member of the AFA Negotiating Committee.
Our next set of meetings is scheduled for January 3-13 in HNL. Your AFA Negotiating Team would like to wish each of you a very happy and safe holiday season!
Aloha and Safe Flying,
Sharon Soper, MEC President

In accordance with Section 34. Letters of Agreement, #17 Contract Clean-Up Process, a clearer contract is presented for you.
"From 2009 through 2011 the parties to this agreement endeavored to rationalize the agreement by incorporating, wherever possible, Letters of Agreement into the body of the Agreement, correcting typographical errors, repositioning certain provisions within the Agreement and by eliminating provisions that were no longer applicable. This exercise was purely clerical in nature and was in no way meant to change any intent, application or understanding of any negotiated provisions. While both parties have put forth their best efforts to make sure that all references have been cross-checked and that there are no typographical errors, should any such errors be subsequently identified, the parties agree that they will have no bearing on the relevant intent and/or application and such errors will be corrected in the next printing of the agreement." (From #17 Contract Clean-Up Process)
